Against the backdrop of the current global crisis, the urgency of demonstrating the positive impact of multilateral peace and arms control processes continues to grow.
Despite Geneva’s strategic position as a hub for arms control, diplomacy, peace mediation, and even engagement with armed actors, silos between these sectors persist.
This closed-door breakfast event will examine what is needed for Geneva to realize its potential as a safe space. It will focus on two key questions:
What are the current and emerging challenges?
What are the key ingredients for connecting arms control and peacebuilding spaces more effectively and practically?
Together with interested states and implementing organizations, participants will discuss how to strengthen informal and formal channels, identify synergies and create forums for (re)building trust to resolve and prevent conflicts.
