GPF meets

 

In the framework  of  the Geneva Peace Forum, Geneva Peace Forum Meets is an initiative that brings the spirit and dialogue of the Geneva Peace Forum to regions around the world, creating opportunities to engage with peacebuilders in diverse contexts. By convening key actors in the field of peacebuilding,  Geneva Peace Forum Meets fosters connections, highlights regional perspectives, and strengthens collective efforts toward sustainable peace. 

Upcoming Edition

Building on the success of the first two editions in New York (2023) and Addis Ababa (2025), Geneva Peace Forum meets Vienna will bring the global peacebuilding community to Vienna for a one-day event on 3 June 2026. This third edition of the Geneva Peace Forum meets series, will offer an opportunity to bridge dialogues between international and regional peace actors, spotlight emerging challenges and opportunities for sustainable peace, and strengthen collaboration across multilateral hubs. Hosted at the Hyatt Hotel,  the event will convene policymakers, practitioners, and thought leaders to exchange insights and co-create solutions that advance peacebuilding efforts in Europe and beyond, continuing the spirit of partnership and innovation demonstrated in New York and Addis Ababa.

Geneva Peace Week meets Addis Ababa

On 7–8 April 2025, Geneva Peace Week expanded its reach to Africa with its second GPW Meets edition in Addis Ababa, following the inaugural event in New York. The event brought together over 800 participants both in-person and online, engaging in dynamic conversations on some of the most pressing peace and security challenges of our time. By leveraging the strengths of both cities, GPW Meets Addis Ababa seeks to deepen collaboration, enhance coordination, and build lasting partnerships. Discussions will continue at Geneva Peace Week 2025, ensuring that insights gained in Addis Ababa lead to sustained action.

Geneva Peace Week meets New York

Geneva Peace Week Meets New York was a 1.5-day event at IPI, bringing together peacebuilders from Geneva, New York, and the field to discuss challenges to building sustainable peace. As part of preparations for the 2024 Summit of the Future and the 2025 Review of the Peacebuilding Architecture, the event explored proposals for a New Agenda for Peace and generated ideas for its implementation. Drawing on insights from the 10th Annual Geneva Peace Week (30 October–3 November 2023) and the ministerial meeting on the Summit of the Future during High-Level Week in September, the event revolved around the theme, ‘Building Trust, Building Peace.’ Discussions focused on revitalizing prevention and key workstreams from the New Agenda for Peace policy brief, including: Global-level prevention: addressing strategic risks, geopolitical divisions, and arms control; Conflict prevention and sustaining peace: strengthening human rights, the Women, Peace and Security Agenda, and tackling climate-security risks; New peace approaches: addressing emerging threats, including AI, cyber, and LAWS, and promoting responsible innovation. The event was organized by the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform and the International Peace Institute, with support from the Swiss FDFA.
