Time to Speak! Civil Society Voices for Peace at the Second World Summit for Social Development

Building on our Geneva Peace Week 2024 workshop “Bridging Generations: Co-Creating Solutions for Peace and Social Development”, this year’s interactive session takes the conversation to the next level. Last year, we shared the results of a youth peacemaker survey in Geneva, spotlighted key policy priorities, and launched a mentoring programme at UNRISD that led to the working paper “Inclusive Peace for Social Development – Priority Areas for the Second World Summit for Social Development”, to be launched at Geneva Peace Week 2025.

In 2025, we return with an action-oriented workshop that brings research and practice together. Participants will:

Explore real-world case studies from the working paper—spanning peace negotiations, urban planning, and education.

Engage in group discussions on how civil society can amplify its voice at the Summit, influence implementation, and hold governments accountable.

Reflect on the role of research in advancing peace and social development, particularly within today’s shifting funding and geopolitical landscape.

We welcome students, researchers, civil society actors, and government representatives to join us in co-creating pathways for inclusive peace and social progress.
