Enya Echeng is the Deputy Executive Director of the Youth Organisation for Research and Justice Advocacy (YORJA), a youth-led organisation advancing transitional justice, human rights, peacebuilding and meaningful youth participation across Africa. A Nigerian lawyer by training, he holds an LLB, a Barrister-at-Law (BL), an LLM in ICT Law from Nasarawa State University, and a Master’s degree in Transitional Justice, Human Rights and the Rule of Law from the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights. Enya has extensive experience in transitional justice, human rights research, policy advocacy, youth participation and peacebuilding. He is the Chairperson of the African Youths for Transitional Justice (AY4TJ) and a member and was Secretary of the African Union Reference Group on Transitional Justice in Africa, contributing to continental discussions, advisory and policy engagements on transitional justice and the implementation of the African Union Transitional Justice Policy (AUTJP). Through his work with YORJA and AY4TJ, Enya has contributed to initiatives focused on strengthening youth participation in transitional justice processes, developing youth-friendly resources on the AUTJP, conducting research and consultations, and building the capacity of young people and civil society actors across the continent. His work brings particular attention to youth agency, victim-centred approaches, intergenerational justice and locally grounded approaches to peace and accountability. Enya is particularly committed to ensuring that young people are not treated merely as beneficiaries of justice processes, but are recognised as rights-holders, participants and agents of transformation capable of shaping the future of justice and peace on the continent.
