Monsignor Héctor Fabio Henao Gaviria is Director of FICONPAZ (Foundation Institute for the Construction of Peace) and, since 2022, Delegate for Church–State Relations of the Colombian Episcopal Conference. A Catholic priest and Prelate of Honor since 1990, he holds degrees in Philosophy and Theology, a Master’s in Sociology, and a PhD in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, as well as an Honorary Doctorate in Humanities.
He founded and has directed FICONPAZ since 1996 and served as Director of the National Secretariat for Social Pastoral – Cáritas Colombiana from 1996 to 2022. With extensive experience in peace negotiations, human rights, reconciliation, and community-based peacebuilding, he has supported several Colombian peace processes and advocated negotiated solutions and reparations for victims. He currently represents the Colombian Episcopal Conference in peace dialogues with armed groups, including the ELN and FARC-EP.
