Yasmine M. Ahmed is a recognized leader in climate finance, sustainable development, and public sector reform, with more than 15 years of experience working at the intersection of climate policy, economic development, and international finance. She has advised governments, multilateral institutions, and development partners on mobilizing innovative financing solutions that strengthen economic resilience, advance sustainable development, and accelerate climate action.

Ms. Ahmed currently serves as Climate Finance Advisor to the Minister of Finance of the Federal Government of Somalia, where she is helping shape the country's climate finance agenda by strengthening climate finance governance, mobilizing international and private sector investment, and integrating climate finance into national economic planning, public financial management, and development financing strategies.

Previously, she served as Climate Finance Advisor to H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, where she provided strategic advice on climate finance and international partnerships. Following the Government's decision to transition the climate finance portfolio to the Ministry of Finance, she continued supporting Somalia's climate finance agenda in her current role.

Prior to joining the Federal Government of Somalia, Ms. Ahmed served with the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) in Nairobi, Kenya, where she supported regional initiatives on climate resilience, climate services, and sustainable development across the Horn of Africa.

Throughout her career, Ms. Ahmed has been committed to helping countries unlock financing for sustainable development by strengthening institutions, developing bankable investment pipelines, mobilizing climate finance, and fostering partnerships between governments, development partners, and the private sector. Her work reflects a strong belief that climate finance is not only an environmental imperative but also a catalyst for economic transformation, resilience, and inclusive growth.

Ms. Ahmed holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and serves on the Board of Directors of DePaul University, reflecting her commitment to leadership, education, and public service.

Ms. Ahmed is passionate about mentoring future leaders, giving back to her community, and exploring the world's oceans through travel and snorkeling.
