Muganga - Celui qui Soigne Movie Screening

Muganga - Celui qui soigne is a 2025 film directed by Marie Hélène Roux and is based on the true story of gynaecologist Dr. Denis Mukwege and his fight to treat survivors of sexual violence amidst the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo. It is a powerful drama that sheds light on the devastating use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and on the courage of survivors. 

The movie screening and discussion will take place from 17:00 to 19:00 in Plenary A, and will include a showing of the film followed by discussion featuring director Marie-Hélène Roux and Danaé van der Straten Ponthoux of the Global Survivors Fund, moderated by Pierre Hazan of Festival du film et forum international sur les droits humains. 

This event designed to bring together advocates, local communities, survivors, and healthcare workers to reflect on the impact of conflict on rates of sexual violence, the importance of crafting more inclusive dialogues in peace processes that consider achieving justice on behalf of survivors, and how to better advocate for stronger safeguards that protect communities from conflict-related sexual violence.
