Sibylle Obrist obtained a Masters in International Relations at the Institut Universitaire des Hautes Etudes Internationales (IUHEI/The Geneva Graduate Institute) in Geneva and an advanced Masters in Conflict Resolution and Sustainable Peace at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. She worked for NGOs in Switzerland, the USA and Indonesia on issues of human rights, conflict prevention and sustainable development and joined the Swiss diplomatic service in 2008. For the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) she has worked in Venezuela, United Kingdom and at the UN Division in Bern. Furthermore, she served as Deputy Head of Mission of the Swiss Embassy in Rabat, Morocco, as well as Deputy Permanent Representative of the Swiss Permanent Mission to UNESCO and Francophonie in Paris. Since 2022, she serves as Deputy Head of the Peace and Human Rights Division in the State Secretariat of the FDFA in Bern.
